Knoxville Art Scene

Knoxville Community Pages

The Knoxville Art Scene is a strong and vibrant one, with over 100 art galleries in Knoxville, ranging from modern to Appalachian crafty to African and other world cultures.

Do you have a favorite Knox artist, gallery or art event to share?

Click here to give a shout out to the scene!

As Liza Zenni has said about the importance of the arts to Knoxville's growth, "The citizens of Knoxville want to reach for something...to create a city that’s shinier, and has more sparkle. All the things that arts and culture bring to a city, they want to become right now."

So this isn't just about an art scene; it's about making Knoxville a better city that's more inviting to business and industry, and to people who're looking for a great place to live.

That, and the fact that I adore the arts, are the reasons for the creation of these pages. I hope you enjoy the articles, and that you go out and support Knoxville's artists!

Our article on The Basement Gallery in Knoxville's Old City

The Basement Gallery is one of the newer art galleries in Knoxville; it just opened in Knoxville's Old City on Jackson Avenue last summer.

Knoxvillian, owner and artist T. Michael Martin has an eye for excellent art in the more-modern vein, and his contacts in the art world must be very good, because his shows never lack for very stylish and interesting art.

Read the full article about the Basement Gallery's opening last July to find out more.

That's all for now about our favorite Knoxville artists and galleries. Who are yours?
